Workshop Description
If you live in a condominium or homeowners association, you know how important it is to have an effective governing board of directors. The CAI Board Leader Development Workshop is designed to provide a foundation for effective community association board leadership. Whether you are an experienced board member or just thinking about getting involved, this workshop will help you become a more informed and effective leader.
The workshop covers the following topics:
- Governing Documents and Roles & Responsibilities
- Communications, Meetings, and Volunteerism
- Fundamentals of Financial Management
- Professional Advisors and Service Providers
- Association Rules and Conflict Resolution
Workshop Toolkit
A digital Workshop Toolkit is included with every registration. A printed copy of the Workshop Toolkit is available and can be purchased at the time of registration for $40 with pick-up at the workshop.
Both, the digital and physical toolkit include access to five separate online course modules (6 hours of optional content).
The Toolkit includes:
- The Board Member Toolkit, a best-selling book from CAI Press
- The Board Member Toolkit Workbook
- Brochures and publications, such as The Homeowner & The Community Association
- A copy of CAI’s award-winning Common Ground™ magazine
CAI Board Leader Certificate
After attending the entire workshop, you can earn the CAI Board Leader Certificate by acknowledging that you have read and understood three key documents:
1) Model Code of Ethics for Community Association Board Members
2) Community Association Governance Guidelines
3) Rights and Responsibilities for Better Communities
Community leaders who complete the CAI Board Leader Certificate will receive a certificate of completion and recognition on the CAI website.

CAI Alabama Chapter does not give refunds for registration cancellations. Instead we will provide credit for a future meeting registration for cancellations received before the registration deadline, or you may send a substitute of your choice to the same event.
